FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are your courses booklets, tapes, videos, or online?
Our courses are booklets that we send to you or you can complete the course online. The booklets are yours to keep for future reference. You return, via mail or fax, the answer sheet and course evaluation form for grading and certificate preparation. If you order the online courses you can complete the post test online and print the certificate from your computer.

What do you currently offer?
Currently, we have 105 AARC approved courses that range from 1 Contact Hour to 9 Contact Hours.
Course Offerings.

Does my Licensing Board accept your courses?
Our courses are accepted/approved by Alberta, Canada and by all US Respiratory Care Boards (AARC Provider # 9346916) and 19 Nursing Boards that currently have CE requirements. You should always check with your Licensing Board to make sure before ordering courses from any source - there are companies that will tell you that their material is accepted, and they are not! Since all of our courses are AARC approved, there has never been a problem with any Respiratory or Nursing Boards.
CE requirements.

What is the cost for your courses?
Our courses are $12.00 per Contact Hour ($10.80 if you order from our web site) plus your delivery preference (no delivery charge for online courses).

How quickly can I receive the courses?
Courses are shipped or can be downloaded (online courses only) the same day we receive the order. We have five delivery options depending on your time-line: Priority Mail ($6.00); Express Mail ($20.00); online (No charge). Outside US – Global Priority Mail (15.00) or Global Express Mail (30.00).

Is your delivery cost a per course cost?
No. Some companies have a "per course" shipping cost.  Our delivery costs are per order.

How can I place an order?
You can order directly from our web site (10% discount); call us at (800) 441-LUNG(5864); fax our order form, if you have one of our brochures or advertisement to (951) 789-8861; or mail our order form or advertisement to:  RCECS, 16781 Van Buren Blvd, Suite B, Riverside, CA 92504-5798.
Course Offerings

How do I pay for the courses?
We accept Master Card, Visa, American Express, Discover, Checks or Money Orders.

How long does it take to get my certificate back?
You can mail or fax back your answer sheets and evaluation forms to us.  We use the postmark date or fax date as the test date and the date that goes on the certificate. We grade (requires a 70% passing score), prepare and mail the certificate back to you the same day (except Sundays and holidays) that we receive your answer sheets and evaluation forms. If you order the online courses you can complete the post test online and print the certificate from your computer.

What is on the certificate?
The certificate will have your name, state license number or Canada Registration number, AARC member number (if applicable), completion date, total number of hours received, course names and amount of individual course hour ratings. Also, if you miss any questions, we give you the correct answers on our CE Test Score sheet that will accompany the certificate. (For online courses you will immediately receive the correct answer for any questions missed and will be able to print the certificate directly from your computer.)

Do you offer discounts?
Yes. Orders submitted on our web site receive a 10% discount.  Groups (we consider anything more than one person a group) receive a minimum of 15% discount. We also offer discounts to Hospitals, Home Care Companies, Several State Societies, etc.

What does each course consist of?
Our courses range in subject matter from simple review material to advanced critical care skills. Each course consists of behavioral objectives, outline, text, post test, answer sheet and evaluation form.

How are your courses accredited?
We go through a per course review and approval process with the American Association For Respiratory Care (AARC Provider # 9346916) every year. Verification for our accreditation may be obtained by calling the AARC CRCE Coordinator at (972) 243-2272.
Accreditation.

Do I have to be an AARC member in order to take your courses?
No. If you are a AARC member, we prepare a log that is submitted back to the AARC so that they can track the amount of CE received for their members.

Some Regulatory Boards have restrictions regarding receiving CE credit from home study. How do I know if my board is one of them?
You can call your Licensing Board directly, call us at (800) 441-LUNG, or view our CE Requirements Page.
CE Requirements.

Is Contact Hour (CH) the same as Continuing Education Unit (CEU)?
For the purposes of meeting CE requirements, yes. The definition of 1 CEU is 10 hours of instruction compared to the definition of 1 CH is 1 hour of instruction. Many Licensing Boards are getting away from the term CEU and using CH as a result. An example would be: a Board that requires 15 CEU's every 2 years is not saying that you need 150 hours of instruction - they are requiring you to have 15 hours only.

Can I take the same course that I took last time I ordered from you?
We recommend that you do not take the same courses in two consecutive licensing cycles. We revise our courses every two - three years and therefore consider it a new course at that time. We suggest that you do not take the same courses with the same revision date as your last order. We continue to strive to add new courses yearly so that you have a large variety of courses to chose from which eliminates this concern.

What happens if I fail a test?
We have different test versions for each course. Failure to achieve a 70% passing score requires an additional fee to retake the test.

How long has your company been providing CE courses?
We are proud to say that we are celebrating our 27th year of providing high quality continuing education courses. Our company was founded in 1982.
